|
District 21 of Alcoholics Anonymous California Northern Interior (Area 07) encompasses all of Placer County West of the Pacific Crest Trail near Donner Summit. The Eastern portion of Placer County was given to Northern Nevada Area 42 so that GSRs and District Officers could attend their respective meetings in the middle of Winter without having to hazard crossing Donner Summit. There are currently 44 active groups in District 21. Of those groups, 5 are major fellowship halls having in excess of 21 meetings per week each. In total, there are over 190 meetings each week. Of those groups, a little less than 25% have representation at the General Service level. The District is composed of the GSRs that are elected by the groups to represent them and the District Officers, usually former GSRs, who are elected by the current GSRs. The District is the active General Service body serving all the groups and their members within the District, in effect, the Group Conscience of the District. The DCM, District Committee Member, represents the District at CNIA, our area, and along with the GSR's, convey the voice of the District to the Area Delegate who represents all the groups in the Area at the General Service conference. Through this process the future of AA is formed. The Delegate in turn relays events and news from the GSC, General Service Conference, back to the Districts and the Districts relay this back to all the members in the groups. The District Committee, acting as a service board to the groups within the District, takes care of District needs that are to large in scope for any individual group to undertake. Some of these undertakings include the Teleservice, Meeting Schedules, and the District Website. For descriptions of various Committees within the District, the Officer's Responsibilities and Committee Chair positions please refer to the District Committee section. |
